This story is a response to the Challenge posted on Friday Fictioneers, which is a weekly blog link-up led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to Purple. A story inspired by the photo prompt, a beginning, middle and end in just 100 words or below, making every word count. Here goes my attempt, hope you guys like it.
Well guys it’s Holi time here in India, a colorful prompt this week (the grasshopper was indeed beautiful so I ended up clicking it), and I was reading a sad story a while ago. So a little sad take despite the festive mode on. Happy Holi to all!!
In what color…
This Holi, I wont touch colors. My own kind of protest… against myself.
The last time I saw you, hadn’t seen you smile. I hadn’t seen you smile any day, the way, I saw in that photograph of you and her. And another one where you hug her, makes me sure.
I don’t know your reasons, and am not sure of mine. But you know, her eyes…they are sure of you. The only reason I have to let go of you.
But without you… I don’t know, what color would I ever look good in.

That’s got density and succulence. Thanks

This was indeed a heartfelt piece. When one knows one must let go, one must let go…

The photo is stunning and I had several stories, aside from the one I wrote, that came to mind. Thanks for the beautiful muse.
Your story shakes me; as who hasn’t felt those very things–– whether we lose our love thru’ a peek of something we shouldn’t see, or for countless other reasons lovers drift. But that last line, just grabs me and shakes me. Beautiful!
