Wait for me…

This story is a response to the Challenge posted on Friday Fictioneers, which is a weekly blog link-up led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to Purple. A story inspired by the photo prompt, a beginning, middle and end in just 100 words or below, making every word count. Here goes my attempt, hope you guys like it.

Wait for me…

“Come Rose. Come with us. You cannot live here all by yourself” They said to her. Each time her parents, friends or anyone who knew Rose and Mick would visit.

No one comes over anymore. Counting on these last moments of a life long wait, Rose struggled to walk. She makes it to that drawer of her dressing table. Pulled out the same yellowed aging piece of paper and read the last line again, one last time as she flopped into the chair.

“Trust me Rose, I love only you. I will come for you, soon. Wait for me…”

  1. A lovely love story that I hope was not one-sided. One hopes that Mick simply couldn’t keep his promise.

I keep forgetting to ask you why you call yourself the “saprogenic” storyteller–caused by putrefaction or decay? What’s the story behind that?
