The royal ride

The royal ride

This story is a response to the Challenge posted on Friday Fictioneers, which is a weekly blog link-up led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to Purple. A story inspired by the photo prompt, a beginning, middle and end in just 100 words or below, making every word count. Here goes my attempt, hope you guys like it.

Rana ji was no short than a king of his kind. The royal family of Gwalior treated him as a part. Originally from Rajasthan, Rana ji was driver to the erstwhile king and now his only duty was to drive the antique cars on occasions. A royal ride is what Rana would be called for.

“The king was very kind. He took good care of me and my family. Their sons do too… but the next generation would not or may be the next. My sons know this, they are sending their children to school.”

(the piece is all fiction and bears no resemblance to any person or fact.)
