This story is a response to the Challenge posted on Friday Fictioneers, which is a weekly blog link-up led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to Purple. A story inspired by the photo prompt, a beginning, middle and end in just 100 words or below, making every word count. Here goes my attempt, hope you guys like it.
Faking the Fence
“The Fence…what’s it for dad?”
“It keeps you safe Jenny…it wont let anything past.”
Daddy always said, the fence was to protect me. It did…it did well for a few years.
I envied the birds that could come past it…and the squirrels too.
But then he came…he never crossed.
Daddy used to say enemies live that side…but he was nice.
He brought me gifts…candies…everyday. We were friends.
We were friends not enemies…we were just faking the fence…it dint make a difference anymore.
